IKEA hack ideas and furniture customisation

July 22, 2017

So, you've decided to hack your IKEA drawers and you've found the perfect combination of STYLKEA Styl-Panels and drawer pulls. Customising with Styl-Panels is simple - peel and stick, baby, peel and stick. Adding handles and knobs needs a a few basic tools and, in this article, we provide step-by-step photo instructions to get it right first time.

IKEA hack ideas for MalmIn this project, we're adding pulls to a two-drawer IKEA Malm bedside table. Malm comes with flat-panel drawer fronts and recessed finger pulls - a perfect blank canvas for any design style. We're going to add gold tapered bow handles ($6.79 from Bunnings, Australia) and Styl-Panel #1123-375 in Gold Mirror ACP.

You'll need the following tools:

  • Erasable pencil for marking
  • Power drill and drill bit (to match the screw size)
  • Ruler or tape measure
  • Pliers (or hacksaw blade)
  • Phillips head screwdriver

(We love our trusty Leatherman Multi-Tool.)
